Robert Beasley and wife, Sarah, are the first documented Beasley family in North Carolina; and were one of the first 70 families to settle in the old Berkeley District of Albermarle County, North Carolina. This report is neither complete nor guaranteed accurate. There are, however, many primary and secondary sources for the researcher of this line. I am placing this report here in hopes others will contribute to it.

    Notes for Robert Beasley:

A general note regarding the formation of North Carolina Counties: In 1671, Albemarle County was divided into Carteret, Berkeley and Shaftsbury Precincts. In 1681, Carteret Precinct was divided into Currituck and Pasquotank; Berkeley was renamed Perquimans; and Shaftsbury was renamed Chowan. In 1739, all the precincts became counties. Bertie County was formed from Chowan in 1722, Tyrrell County was formed from Bertie, Chowan, Currituck and Pasquotank in 1729, and Washington County was formed from Tyrrell in 1799.
